The Rapture complete new album – but won’t release until 2011
New York’s punk-funkateers The Rapture have now finished their third album (with the help of Cassius’ Phillipe Zdar on production), but say they are going to take their time with releasing it.
“We finished the record earlier this summer, and I think as a whole it’s the best record that we’ve made yet” drummer Vito Roccoforte told In The Mix. “It’s all done and mastered now, so we’re just sitting on it until next year.” Reason being is that they split from Universal a while back, and are now weighing up the options on how and where to release it.
“We’re not on a label right now, so this album was self-financed,” he said. “We did and paid for everything ourselves and now we own it, which is a pretty cool feeling. We’re taking our time with releasing it because there are just so many options for how to do it and we want to figure out the best way. We’d prefer to wait a little longer and release it next year instead of doing it now and rushing it for the final quarter of 2010.”
They will be playing a little of the new stuff on upcoming tour dates, but other than that it looks like we’ll be waiting some time into 2011 for the new LP.
